Our Board:

  • Darren is a practicing attorney in Boulder who is motivated by the lack of basic rights afforded to people experiencing homelessness in Boulder. During law school, he helped author “Too High A Price 2: Move On To Where” with the Homeless Advocacy Policy Project. With a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, he previously worked for research companies and the University of Colorado Boulder’s Laboratory for Atmospheric Space Physics, designing instruments to measure the physical properties of clouds and atmospheres. He served as co-regional vice-president of the southwest region of the National Lawyers Guild and is currently the chair of the criminal justice committee for the NAACP Boulder County Branch. Darren enjoys spending time with his family and participating in his church and social justice community.

  • David has been a criminal defense attorney for over 35 years, representing people accused of crimes throughout Colorado. He has extensive experience representing individuals experiencing homelessness in Boulder on charges such as unlawful camping, trespassing, and public drinking or smoking. As a dedicated advocate for the homeless population of Boulder for over 15 years, David has worked tirelessly to protect their rights and improve their access to resources.

  • Shanan is a Boulder Community Foundation Leadership Fellows graduate. Since 2018, she has been working at Haven Ridge as Director of Operations and Programming. Shanan worked as a Program Director for the 5 years prior at Bridge House and BOHO. Shanan excels at finding creative ways to expand services to the Boulder County community and advocating for the needs of the unhoused.


    Shanan has been involved with programs that support young children, youth and families since 1997. She is a mother of 3 grown children who have started families of their own. Shanan is an avid outdoors woman and loves to hike.
